§ 86-63. Special senior rates.

(a)

Established. There is established a special water and sewer rate for seniors who are residential water and sewer customers.

(b)

Special senior water rates. For those customers who qualify as provided in this section, the minimum water usage rate for monthly water usage from zero gallons to 3,000 gallons shall be discounted 15 percent from the basic water rate at subsection 86-62(2)a.1., above.

(c)

Special senior sewer rates. For those customers who qualify as provided in this section, the minimum sewer usage rate for monthly sewer usage from zero gallons to 3,000 gallons shall be discounted 15 percent from the basic sewer rate at subsection 86-62(1)a.1., above.

(d)

Qualifications for rate. This special rate shall be effective only for residential customers of the city and only for residential use at the residence at which the individual resides. The customer must show proof to the director of finance, or his/her designee, of documented proof of birth date to establish that the customer is 65 years of age or older.

(e)

Starting time. This rate shall become effective upon the required information being documented and received, and the rate shall be applied for the next complete month of water and/or sewer service.
